The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute has an open position for a highly motivated full-time Research Staff Assistant to assist working in a cutting-edge neuroscience laboratory. The Research Staff Assistant will perform state-of-the-art research investigating interoceptive sensory systems.

This is a full-time grant funded role.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Under the direction and supervision of the PI, Perform techniques such as immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, advanced genetics.
  • Collecting and analyzing data.
  • Care and maintenance of the lab fly stock collection and general fly husbandry
  • Collect and organize project results and prepare materials for academic paper writing.
  • Maintain lab inventory and equipment, and other routine lab duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline is required or experience equivalent required.

  • 6 months of experience or more is required in a research environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a laboratory setting is highly desired.
  • The ideal candidate must possess strong organizational skills, keep excellent notes, show sound judgment, and have a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation as well as the ability to work independently within a diverse and dynamic team environment.
