Position Summary
The Han Lab, led by Dr. Arnold Han, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to provide technical and operational support for studies focused on T cells in autoimmunity and cancer. This position involves hands-on work in molecular cloning, cell-based immunology assays, and recombinant protein expression systems.
The Laboratory Technician will contribute to routine experimental workflows, support the maintenance of cell cultures and laboratory reagents, and assist in the overall organization and daily operations of the laboratory. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise in immunology and molecular biology while working collaboratively with trainees and researchers in an academic research environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, plasmid preparation, and PCR-based assays, following established protocols.
- Conduct immunology assays, including in vitro immune cell assays and functional analyses.
- Perform mammalian cell culture, including subculturing, cryopreservation, and viability assessment.
- Carry out transient transfections and viral or non-viral transduction of mammalian cells.
- Assist with recombinant protein expression and basic purification workflows.
- Support ordering of reagents, inventory management, and organization of laboratory supplies.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper use of shared instruments.
- Follow all laboratory safety, biosafety, and compliance procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations and research goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a basic science laboratory.
- Experience in computational biology.
- Familiarity with common laboratory software tools (e.g., Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo).
- Experience working in an immunology or molecular biology research environment.
