The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The incumbent will file, track, retrieve, and transport items including but not limited to: slides, blocks, requisitions, reports, and specimens throughout the medical center. Performs basic data entry functions, record counts of cassettes, blocks, and slides. Logging, maintaining, sorting, retrieving, and updating slides and paraffin blocks off site. Specimen dumping, waste disposal of tissues, and formaldehyde. Maintenance of laboratory supplies including heavy lifting. Perform other related duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory.


Responsibilities

  • 45% - Transport items throughout the medical center, including but not limited to: requisitions, reports, slides, blocks, and surgical specimens.
  • 45% - File, track, and retrieve items including but not limited to: requisitions, reports, slides, and blocks.  
  • 5%- Specimen dumping, wastes disposal of tissues and formaldehyde.  
  • 5% - Perform other duties as necessary to the functioning of the unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Copath experience preferred.
  • Must work in an organized manner and have attention for details.
  • Must be able to walk up to 5 miles per day.

Other Requirements 

  • Must be able to lift at least 25lbs.
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator
  • Must be able to communicate well, written, and oral
  • Must successfully complete systems training requirements.
