The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Position provides research support to NIH-funded clinical trial of ketamine for depressed, suicidal patients in Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) psychiatric emergency department (ED). Requires clinical contact with patients in emergency room and inpatient unit; involves interviewing, monitoring vital signs, phlebotomy, collection of other lab samples as needed, web-based platforms, database management, quality control of documentation, regulatory compliance. Interest in work in hospital settings, mostly on-site, and ability to build rapport with patients and staff essential.


Responsibilities

  • Perform screening interviews of potential study participants in emergency dept.
  • Conduct clinical research interviews with participants in emergency dept. and inpatient unit.
  • Conduct neuropsychological testing of participants in emergency dept. and inpatient unit.
  • Assist in monitoring study drug administration procedure in emergency dept. including vital signs monitoring and recording.
  • Support study through completing and maintaining quality of participant charts.
  • Monitor deadlines for and assist in compliance with regulatory (e.g. IRB, FDA) requirements.
  • Assist with completion and quality control of study REDCap database, excel tracking spreadsheets, and electronic Regulatory Binder.
  • Perform phlebotomy, urine pregnancy tests, collection of other lab samples as needed.
  • Attend division and study specific meetings.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Facility with basic computer software e.g. Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe, etc.
  • Experience interfacing with clinical populations.
  • Ability to meet with participants in-person in emergency dept. and inpatient unit.

Other Requirements

  • Must successfully complete all online system training requirements
