The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Administrative Clerk will perform a variety of administrative and staff support duties for a fast-paced department which require a range of knowledge and skill of organizational procedures and policies.
Responsibilities
Accessioning (70%)
- File, track, retrieve, and transport items including but not limited to specimens, slides, blocks, requisitions, and reports throughout the medical center for a distance of at-least 5 miles daily.
- Register outreach patients in Epic
- Triage and accessioning/ data entry into laboratory information system of Hemepath and Neuro specimen samples
- Obtain demographics, insurance information, label specimen containers, and microscopic slides
- Handle specimens, slides, and blocks for Lawrence Hospital
Administrative Duties (25%)
- Troubleshooting of cases
- Handle multiple telephone lines, take detailed messages and direct incoming calls
- Fax, mail, file and maintain records
- General maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
- Handle receiving specimens, frozen, and packages through window
(5%)
- Perform other related duties as related to operations of work unit.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience plus a minimum of two to three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree desirable.
- Knowledge of Co-Path, Word, and Excel preferred.
- Knowledge of billing fee codes CPT and ICD preferred.
- Typing 30- 35 wpm preferred.
Other Requirements
- Must have the ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Medical terminology is required.
- Must be willing to work evenings.
- Must be able to successfully complete systems training requirements.
