Position Summary

The Department of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health is recruiting a non-student short term casual worker to work with Dr. Zeki Al Hazzouri’s research team on her ongoing research projects focusing on cognitive aging. The short term casual will join a research team with active NIH funded projects that use advanced statistical methods to understand determinants of dementia. The research conducted includes population-based studies on social determinants.

The incumbent will assist in a qualitative research project that is focused broadly on these areas:

• Examining new and emerging issues relating to care and aging in low- and middle-income country contexts (LMIC)
• The challenges of building social networks and access to care in urban health in deprived contexts with a special focus on aging policies, their barriers and gaps.
• Overlapping vulnerabilities of aging with crises such as climate precarity, wars and emergencies, and economic hardship in global health. 

The role will involve:

• Literature review and drafting research articles on the above areas
• Identifying developing methods and analyses used to answer questions related to aging and global health in LMICs
• Supporting collaborators currently carrying out research questions on the areas previously defined.

Responsibilities

• Perform literature reviews for emerging research questions and projects within the above categories. 20%
• Assist with statistical analyses regarding the above research areas and questions. 20%
• Assist with manuscript drafting and editing along with other members of the lab on the above research areas. 20%
• Assist with formulating and editing grant paperwork (new submissions, progress reports) as needed or applicable. 15%
• General administrative requirements or other duties as assigned. 5%

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience require

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree and strong writing skills; familiarity with data management and analysis are strongly preferred.

• Successful candidate must possess a high level of initiative, clear communication skills, and attention to detail in addition to a demonstrated ability to be flexible to the evolving needs of several global mental health studies.
