The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The candidate will oversee the financial reporting functions at the Medical Center, including but not limited to directing the accounts receivable management, providing financial guidance and customer-focused support to academic and clinical departments, while demonstrating exemplary verbal and writing skills.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Manage the financial close processes, including oversight and approval of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with institutional accounting policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, analyses, and supporting schedules for senior leadership and central finance to support informed decision-making.
  • Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews to identify trends, key drivers, and operational insights.
  • Support external audits and ensure compliance with university policies and financial control requirements.
  • Serve as a key financial liaison between the Controller’s Office and Medical Center departments, providing financial guidance, responsive customer service, and clear communication of financial policies, procedures, and results to both financial and non-financial audiences.

 

Accounts Receivable Oversight

  • Direct the accounts receivable management, including contract interpretation, billing oversight, reconciliation, collections monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure the accuracy and timely of the process.Monitor receivable balances and aging to support improved collections and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement best practices to strengthen receivable management.

Leadership, Staff Development & Process Improvement

  • Supervise, mentor, and train finance staff supporting financial reporting an0d accounts receivable functions.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and professional development within the team.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen internal controls.

Additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.

This position follows a hybrid work model, combining on-site presence at the CUIMC campus with remote work schedules.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience in progressive experience in a large complex organization 
  • At least 2 years of managerial experience
  • Significant experience in financial reporting, accounting operations, or financial analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and accrual accounting.
  • Experience in overseeing or working closely with accounts receivable functions.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex organizational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience working in higher education, or healthcare.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems and reporting tools.

  • Working proficiency of Microsoft Excel required, with ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs.
