Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Data Analytics, the Data Analyst will support the development, maintenance, and delivery of data and reports related to the academic curriculum and programs at Columbia Business School. The Analyst will assist with data gathering, analysis, and reporting efforts to inform the School’s operations and planning, ensuring data integrity and consistency across sources.
Responsibilities
Reporting & Analysis
Assist with responding to requests for data from Columbia University and Business School systems of record.
Extract and compile data from internal sources to support reporting and documentation needs.
Support the preparation of basic reports, dashboards, and datasets under the guidance of senior team members.
Write and test basic SQL queries and assist with the preparation of ad hoc reports.
Data Management & Structure
Work with administrative and academic teams to support data organization and documentation.
Help ensure that collected data is stored securely and accurately and aligns with internal reporting practices.
Assist with cleaning and formatting datasets for use in standard reporting and analysis.
Tools & Communication
Maintain documentation for reporting tools and processes.
Support the development and update of user-facing reporting tools and dashboards.
Assist with translating data findings into visual summaries or clear written communications for non-technical audiences.
Other Duties
Provide administrative and analytical support for ongoing team projects and long-term data initiatives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
2–4 years of relevant experience in data analysis, research, or reporting.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Basic knowledge of SQL and Excel required.
Familiarity with statistical or data tools (e.g., R, Stata, Python) preferred.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
Interest in working collaboratively in a team setting and learning new systems or tools as needed.
