Position Summary

The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking to recruit an experienced Nurse Practitioner in the Interventional Neuroradiology and Endovascular Neurosurgery division to provide clinical care and clinical research working under the supervision of the attending physician. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for evaluation and management of patients with neurological conditions.


Responsibilities

  • Take medical histories and performing physical examinations with attending physician in outpatient setting.
  • Prescribe medications, and managing patients by phone as appropriate; seeing selected patients in routine follow up and for urgent same day, next day appointments.
  • Order and interpreting diagnostic tests.
  • Assist in coordination of operative schedule.
  • Coordinate admissions; preparing patients for discharge, making daily rounds.
  • Coordinate and facilitating patient education both pre-operatively as well as post-operatively.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary services, participating and presenting at multidisciplinary tumor board.
  • Participate in clinical research protocols using Good Clinical Practices (GCP) related to patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Nurse Practitioners

  • Master's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
  • NYS RN and NP Licenses
  • Board Certification.
  • Current (or eligible for) New York State DEA license
  • BLS Certified (ACLS optional). 
  • 2-4 years nursing or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in neurosurgery, neurology, critical care, or emergency department care preferred.
