Working closely with supervising surgeons, the APP manages pre and post-operative care, educates patients and families, and ensures timely communication with referring physicians to support seamless continuity across care settings. The role also contributes to clinical pathway development, program growth in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and ongoing research and training initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for ambulatory patients. In collaboration with the supervising surgeon, establish a working diagnosis and initiate the outpatient diagnostic work up, including ordering appropriate laboratory studies and imaging.

Administer IV medications, fluids, blood products, and local anesthetics as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with service leadership to build and expand minimally invasive and robotic surgery programs, particularly in hepatobiliary surgery and living donor transplantation.
