The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Assistant Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations is an early-career professional, responsible for working closely with Law School Faculty and Staff to pro-actively research and identify new sources of revenue among foundations, corporations, law firms, and government agencies; managing, organizing, and collecting data on both new and existing funding sources; assist the Director in preparation and submission of grant proposals; management of grants before and after award; tracking submission deadlines and reporting requirements; assisting in the management of Columbia Law School compliance with university sponsored projects guidelines; and assisting the Director with management of long-term strategies and goals.


Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and track pre-award processes for Department of Corporate and Foundation Relations including the research and identification of new funding sources pro-actively and in response to faculty and staff requests.
  2. Create and maintain data analysis and tracking system for efficient management of new fundraising leads, existing funding relationships, and past funding sources.
  3. Assist the Director, faculty, and staff in the preparation of grant proposals and reports, gathering materials, creating and collating research, and evaluating and organizing materials for proposal submission.
  4. Assist the Director in identifying funding prospects.
  5. Assist the Director with the management of long-range strategies and goals of the Corporate and Foundation Relations Department.
  6. Support the Director in communicating to faculty members and staff regarding pre-award grant proposal processes and relevant University guidelines.
  7. Assist the Director in conducting informational trainings for faculty and staff on grant processes as needed.
  8. Participate in other projects as needed; provide support for Department-wide fundraising campaign and events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a professional work environment, preferably in a non-profit or academic setting.

Very strong research and writing skills required. Strong interest in fundraising and some basic research and fundraising experience preferred.

Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills required. Ability to work in a collaborative environment, managing multiple, deadline-driven responsibilities.
