Position Summary
Columbia University seeks an outstanding leader to serve as its next Vice President, Campus Services (VPCS). Reporting to the Executive Vice President for University Facilities and Operations, the Vice President, Campus Services will drive innovation, operational excellence, and customer-focused service delivery while advancing the university’s mission and fostering a vibrant, inclusive campus community.
Responsibilities
The Vice President, Campus Services provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the following service departments that touch almost every member of the Columbia communities located at and around the Morningside and Manhattanville Campuses: dining; undergraduate residence halls; catering and event management services; student canter and bookstore; print and mail services; trademark licensing; and transportation. The overarching objective of these units is to ensure that essential services and critical infrastructure are organized appropriately and function with the highest possible efficiency and effectiveness in support of the university’s academic mission.
The Vice President, Campus Services is a member of the senior management team of CUFO’s Executive Vice President and works closely and collaboratively with other senior leaders across the campus including deans, vice-presidents, and senior managers. Responsibilities include leading and participating in a variety of university and school initiatives and programs, serving on ad-hoc committees, and advising senior leadership on policy issues. An area of ongoing strategic and operational alignment is with student-affairs and residential-life areas of the university, especially those focused on the undergraduate experience.

This role is responsible for supervising project management staff and ensuring that assigned projects are delivered in alignment with University goals, regulatory requirements, budget parameters, schedule expectations, and quality standards. |

This position provides executive leadership for the University’s internal communications function, advancing an internal communications program that supports the University’s academic mission and strategic priorities and furthers communications alignment across the University’s 17 schools. As the leader of the University’s Internal Communications function, the AVP is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive internal communications program that strengthens institutional alignment and fosters a culture of transparency, engagement, and trust among internal stakeholders. The AVP serves as both player and coach: advising on communications strategy while also driving and executing a multi-dimensional internal communications plan. The AVP must bring exceptional judgment, intellectual sophistication, and a nuanced understanding of the cultural and structural complexities of a research and academic institution of Columbia’s size. This position requires strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. |
