The Human Resources Senior Coordinator provides operational and advisory support for the department’s human resources activities under general supervision. The coordinator interprets and applies University HR policies for routine and moderately complex matters, exercises delegated approval authority for standard personnel actions within established parameters, coordinates the annual performance review calendar and prepares merit recommendations aligned to University guidelines, and serves as the primary liaison on HR processes with Payroll, Leave Management, Academic Appointments, University Human Resources, and the Office of Institutional Equity.


Responsibilities

  • Initiate and manage on-boarding process by preparing both manager and new employee through appropriate e-mail communications prior to first day and meeting with them, managing background check process for all hires.
  • Coordinate the processing and documentation associated with Department staff searches including job postings, position descriptions, advertising, termination and hiring paperwork.
  • Support Managers and the Director of Athletics, consulting with Central HR and Office of General Counsel on complex talent management issues and disciplinary, grievance and investigatory procedures for Officers of Administration, Officers of Instruction, and Union Local 2110 members and student casual employees.
  • Provide guidance to managers, supervisors and staff covering a broad range of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Process hiring and payroll transactions to ensure confidential, timely and accurate compensation for appointed and non-appointed staff and track time away from work for officers and support staff.
  • Coordinate the annual performance evaluation calendar, monitor completion, and prepare merit worksheets and recommendations in accordance with the University calendar.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports for the Chief Financial Officer and Associate Athletic Director for Budget and Finance, including data contributions for NCAA and EADA annual reports.
  • Maintain accurate position descriptions, postings and other job-related documents for completeness and correctness and updating the human resources section of the Department’s Policies and Procedures ManualUnsupported image type..
  • Maintain reports and analyze workforce data such as recruitment activity, turnover rates, compensation, promotions, vacancies, and position history information to support work force planning.
  • Interpret and apply University policies and procedures for routine and moderately complex HR matters, advise staff, supervisors and managers on appropriate action, and escalate sensitive issues to Central HR or Office of General Counsel as needed.
  • Responsible for submitting all leave requests for administrative staff to the Office of Leave Management and faculty through the Office of Academic Appointments, in compliance with federal, state, city, and local laws.
  •  Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Council of Ivy League Presidents, University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure; and to exercise a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, firmness and good judgment in sensitive and confidential matters required.
  • Excellent computer skills including through knowledge of Microsoft Office, including knowledge of databases and advanced spread sheet skills required

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and the general public preferred
  • Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and financial and human resources systems preferred
