Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Academic Administration and Finance (DAAF) and working closely with the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and the Department Chair, the Undergraduate Program Manager oversees the day-to-day administration and coordination of the Department’s undergraduate program, one of the largest programs within the Arts and Sciences division. The role manages program operations, student advising coordination, communications, and academic and co-curricular initiatives that support student success and program quality. The incumbent works closely with faculty, students, and university offices to ensure effective program delivery, consistent application of academic policies, and a positive student experience.
The Department of Political Science at Columbia University was founded in 1880 and was the first of its kind in the country. Today, it is one of the university's largest departments, serving one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus and annually attracting an elite group of graduate students. Its faculty includes leaders and prizewinners in every subfield in the discipline. Its graduates lead global and domestic private and public sector organizations and serve as professors at world-class colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad.

The department’s faculty and graduate students regularly teach Literature, Humanities, and Contemporary Civilization. The research faculty is highly active, and they originate and develop a range of activities related to the public humanities. In many areas, we lead the field in showing the centrality of literary arts and methods as an engaged form of scholarly and public practice. |

This position requires a consistent on-site presence and serves as a primary front-line point of contact for SIPA instructors, teaching assistants, students, staff, and visitors seeking assistance. Key responsibilities include coordinating course scheduling and instructional support; maintaining curricular records and systems; and managing office communications, including the shared SIPA Academic Affairs inbox. |
