Position Summary

The Technician B will manage animal colonies; they will be responsible for animals breeding and genotyping. They will also assist with tissue culture work and perform experiments of characterization of mitochondrial function and pathology, such as cell fractionation, western blot to measure mitochondrial proteins, qPCR to measure mtDNA copy number, and spectrophotometric measurement of mitochondrial respiratory chain activities, under supervision.


Responsibilities

The position involves many distinct roles and responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of mice colonies (breeding and genotyping)
  • Perform cell culture base experiments (human fibroblasts and iPSC-derived neurons and cardiomyocytes)
  • Perform biochemical and molecular analyses in cells and mouse tissues (immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry)
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience.
