The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

This grant-funded position is immediately available for a Technician B candidate to focus on research in lung disease and lung biology to better understand the mechanisms of tissue injury.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain cell cultures, basic cell biology, preparation of media and sterile solutions, and other basic laboratory procedures.
  • Perform ELISA assays, Western blots, isolate DNA and mRNA from fresh tissue and perform PCR and RT-PCR.
  • Perform surgery on healthy and diseased animals and maintain transgenic mouse lines (including screening and maintaining a record of mice).
  • Responsible for basic histology from animal specimens including tissue processing, H&E staining and immunohistochemistry.
  • Operate the smoke exposure system, which includes transportation and handling of animals, cage changes, cleaning and maintenance of the machine.
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook.
  • Perform various small office tasks including filing, faxing, mailing letters and answering messages.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics is required or equivalent in education, training and experience.

  • Experience preferred
