Position Summary

The Technician B will provide administrative and research support to the Columbia's Children's Center for Environmental Health (CCCEH), in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, at the Mailman School of Public Health. The role involves a number of responsibilities as follows: Candidate will complete administrative tasks including filing, ordering supplies, photocopying, and preparing for participant visits. In addition, Candidate will support research workers by assisting with aspects of participant visits including scheduling, collecting anthropometric data and biospecimens, as well as completing interviews/assessments as needed. Candidate will also complete medical record abstractions and assist in the preparation and submission of federal and private grant proposals, creating and maintaining biosketches, and tracking progress reports. Candidate will perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist research workers during study visits by scheduling, collecting anthropometric data, biospecimen collections, setting up Garmin devices, and some parent and child interviews/assessments/focus groups. (40%)
• Perform administrative tasks to support CCCEH research functions (filing, setting up packets, photocopying, room assignments, etc.). (30%) 
• Assist with medical record abstraction. (15%)
• Assist in the preparation and submission of federal and private grant proposals, creating and maintaining biosketches, and tracking progress reports. (10%) 
• Perform other related duties as assigned. (5%) 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in research, environmental health, public health, or psychology.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Oral and written proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Solid organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently.
• Ability to act as a point of contact when communicating the most up-to-date information to team members and research participants.
• Ability to work with tight deadlines.
