Position Summary

The purpose of this Technician B position is to assist our researchers in different aspects of clinical research studies. The position has both clinical and administrative components. Clinical research tasks include: following approved IRB protocol for participant screening, recruitment and monitoring; blood drawing and aliquoting; ensure lab space is set up for participant evaluations; reporting regularly on study recruitment and milestone goals, and guiding participants through protocol procedures with the supervision of senior staff. Administrative tasks include: organizing participant’ records, tracking data return, collecting documents from doctors, tracking and scheduling participants, data entry, answering telephone and email queries, shipping blood samples and documents, copying and filing, keeping meeting minutes.

  • Participant screening, recruitment, scheduling and monitoring of progress in studies 40%
  • Participating in research study related procedures (e.g., blood draw and processing, biorepository, vital signs, testing, literature searches) 20%
  • Administrative and data management tasks (filing, data entry, data cleaning) 20%
  • Other duties as needed related to clinical and research needs 20%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or neuroscience.
  • Experience entering data into databases.
  • Background that includes participation in human research studies (e.g, recruitment, phone screenings, maintaining databases) and comfort with people with chronic illness.
  • Demonstration of good organizational skills.

Other Requirements

  • Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
