Position Summary

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is looking to hire a Technician B to work in the laboratory of Dr. Hachung Chung. The candidate will be technical support staff for the Principal Investigator and other lab investigators, as needed. Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:  

  • Candidate will work directly with current lab members and the principal investigator, who is dedicated to training and nurturing young scientists.
  • Perform experiments, be actively involved in scientific discussions, present at lab meetings, and also carry out some administrative lab duties.
  • Will have opportunities to learn molecular biology (PCRs, cloning etc.), tissue culture (CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering, transfection & transduction of cell lines), and cell biology (e.g. microscopy and western blots) techniques. 
  • Expected to assist with general lab management tasks including keeping track of, organizing, and ordering supplies and organizing equipment maintenance, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge in molecular biology, immunology, and biochemistry from coursework or equivalent research experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in immunology and molecular biology is not required but preferred.
