Position Summary

The Technician B will work within the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) to support the processing of human biological samples collected from subjects enrolled in clinical studies through the Transplant Center. Reporting to the Sample Processing Core Director, the Technician B will handle specimen processing, maintain accurate records in the designated database, and assist with core operations. This role offers potential for professional growth. Candidates should be familiar with basic laboratory techniques, demonstrate strong organizational skills, and maintain exemplary work ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Process human biological samples.
  • Record specimens in the designated database.
  • Order laboratory supplies and manage inventory.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with billing core customers for services provided.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and collaboratively, and perform effectively under pressure
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and data management systems required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior laboratory experience

  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
