Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Services, and working closely with the Dean of Students and Registration Services, faculty, students, and other offices in the Law School and the University, the Student Affairs Communications Manager takes a central role in the communications and strategic work of Registration Services (ORS) and Student Services (OSS), ensuring the professional, timely, and friendly communication from OSS and ORS to the CLS community.
Responsibilities
● Communication Strategy, Drafting & Implementation
○ Responsible for developing and managing a communication strategy for OSS and ORS (handbooks, email, newsletters, Zoom hours, etc.); coordinates communications with other CLS stakeholders; maintains the ORS and OSS website and reviews opportunities for improvement in consultation with the ORS and OSS staff and the CLS communications team; explores new modes of communicating (technology, social media, Front, Zoom, LawCal) with the Law School community.
○ Ensures all in-person, digital, and virtual front-of-house communication is professional, timely, and friendly.
○ Assists with schoolwide communications supporting Orientation and Graduation.
● Process Documentation and Operational Workflows
○ Plays a critical role in optimizing operational workflows and stakeholder engagement.
○ Leads the Registration Services (RS) team’s efforts in process documentation and standardization, oversees the development of the CLS Academic Calendar, and ensures seamless execution of communication and logistical support during peak exam periods.
● Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent required.
2-4 years of relevant work experience required.
Proficiency with standard office software, including programs such as Microsoft Excel.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as is the ability to work effectively and creatively with graduate students and faculty as well as with administrators in other areas of the University.
Attention to detail and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently in a high volume/high pressure environment, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously with short deadlines are essential.
Some evening work will be necessary during the CLS exam period.
Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree.
