The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Mamonkin Lab in the Columbia Initiative in Cell Engineering and Therapy (CICET) is looking for a motivated senior laboratory technician to join their team. This position will support the development of engineered cell therapies and eventual translation of best technologies to clinical trials. Reporting to Dr. Mamonkin, the Senior Technician will be responsible for planning and conducting experiments to advance engineering of cell therapies or methods of their manufacture as well as supporting laboratory operations by ordering and receiving supplies and maintaining general organization.
Responsibilities
- Molecular cloning of new constructs.
- Purification of human T cells from peripheral blood/buffy coats.
- Modification of human T cells with transgenic constructs and characterization of cell expansion and phenotype.
- Perform cellular assays and flow cytometry.
- Assist other members with maintenance and routine testing of cell lines and/or assays, as needed.
- Support in vivo experiments in mouse models by performing bioluminescence measurement and visual checks.
- Coordinate mouse inventory and transfers from the breeding colony.
- Order and receive/organize laboratory supplies.
- Maintain databases of inventory and orders.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned/agreed.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences.
- Research experience in a biology lab – wet lab experience.
- Ability to set up and conduct experiments or activities according to established protocols.
- Well-versed in molecular biology and basic laboratory techniques.
- Experience in flow cytometry and cell based assays strongly preferred.
- Experience in mouse handling preferred.
- Proficient at performing complicated experiments in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed electronic laboratory record.
Other Requirements
