The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Budget & Finance with a dual reporting line to Manager of HR & Faculty Affairs, the Senior Analyst position includes ensuring the coordination of finance and human resources processing including payroll, salary transitions and funding changes, and other adjustments for all compensation components in accordance with school and university policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Finance Operations 60%
- Performs reconciliation of salaries between the University's financial system (ARC) and CDM payroll budget.
- Completes salary projections, including prorating salaries as needed.
- Interprets and process allocation updates to ensure alignment with effort allocations.
- Collaborates with the Research Team to monitor salary spending on grant projects in accordance with grant budgets, keeps track of subsequent changes, and makes necessary adjustments to funding profiles.
- Assist in the preparation and completion of the annual rosters.
- Works with Central Payroll to process and reconcile overpayment recovery entries and any other payment issues.
- Lead special projects related to improving efficiencies in payroll processing and process improvement.
- Collaborate with finance leadership to validate and refine revenue and expense budget baselines and targets
- Meets regularly with the finance team and reports any issues, problems, or potential problems that could affect employee's salaries and/or salary accounts.
- Special projects, reports, and ad hoc analyses, as needed
Human Resources 40%
- Assists with onboarding efforts including creating new hire profiles in Kronos, provide training to staff regarding payroll process and protocols.
- Reviews and approves bi-weekly payroll for the SEIU 1199 staff.
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolves problem (e.g. over/under payments).
- Troubleshoots and solve complex payroll problems and analyze information in multiple campus systems.
- Monitors and processes casual and work-study payroll timekeeping in accordance with policies.
- Tracks and clears payroll suspense reports.
- Processes additional compensation payments for faculty and staff.
- Provides data management uploads for the University & Service Corp Roster submission.
- Assists in the preparation of salary surveys, reviewing and updating salary reports for CDM sections, maintaining payroll data, and preparing reports associated with compensation as needed.
- Coordinate financial transactions required for HR processes such as leaves, new hires, terminations and compensation changes.
- Works collaboratively with administrative leadership, business office personnel and other external partners including central payroll, controllers office as needed.
- Performs Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have experience in payroll and accounting; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral) required.
- Must have discretion in compensation communications and must have the ability to take initiative and interact effectively with others.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Experience working within a large healthcare system.
- Knowledge of financial and administrative systems preferred, such as PAC and ARC systems.
- Familiarity with Kronos electronic timekeeping.
