The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Columbia Business School is seeking a Research Staff Assistant for a temporary, full time, one year position. Reporting to Professor Eric Johnson of the Center for Decision Sciences, the Research Staff Assistant will work with CDS faculty and scholars to conduct research, manage data, and coordinate administrative functions  on research projects.

THIS IS A (1 year) FULL-TIME POSITION (35 HOURS A WEEK)

Responsibilities

Research Support

  • Designs web-based surveys including programming, developing, testing and implementing of online studies.

  • Collects, cleans, codes, and analyzes data, as well as writing up results. 

  • Conducts literature reviews and compile citations. 

  • Assists with Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, approvals, an renewals.

Administrative Support 

  • Coordinate lab meeting schedules and arrange space and other resources.

  • Maintain online participant database and CDS website.

  • Process participant payments and reimbursements. 

Training and Coordination

  • Trains and coordinates research assistants.

  • Provide general administrative and research-related support as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) and some training in psychological research.
  • Strong managerial and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and SPSS and/or R. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of online databases: JSTOR, PsycInfo, PsycArticles, EBSCO, Web of Science, and presentation skills (outreach) are helpful. 

  • Familiarity with process tracing and big data is a plus. 

  • Knowledge of linear models, analysis of variance, and data visualization strongly preferred.
