The Salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

 The School of Nursing is looking to hire five (5) full-time Research Associates to work for a study (pending NIH funding) testing the impact of a sleep intervention with adolescents in NYC high schools. Most of the duties will occur in-person at the office or high schools in and around NYC, including the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, requiring travel between/to these sites; occasional night/weekend work is required to follow-up with study participants and/or complete participant interviews. A Bachelor’s degree is required. We are looking for individuals with a background in psychology, public health, nursing or other related fields. Experience working with youth is required. This experience will ideally include facilitating groups or working one-on-one with adolescents.

Responsibilities

Specific tasks for this position entail: 

- Screening and recruiting adolescents and their caregivers

- Delivering intervention group sessions with adolescents

- Interviewing students in person and/or by phone or Zoom, and their caregivers by phone or Zoom;

- Conducting literature searches;

- Photocopying study materials;
- Entering data, and
- Other tasks as needed. 

Opportunities to assist on manuscripts and presentations/posters are also available.

This is a grant funded position and continued employment is contingent upon the grant. 

We anticipate a June start date.

Minimum Qualifications

- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience. 

- Experience working with children or adolescents required
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills 

- Ability to make a 2-year commitment
- Ability to present information to groups of adolescents (i.e., make classroom presentations) 

- Must be able to travel between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, which may expand to other boroughs

- Ability to work in the schools during the high school day, which is typically 8 – 3

- Ability to work some nights/weekends to follow up with adolescents and/or interview parents

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, or related field 

- Prior research experience is a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
