Position Summary

This part-time Research Assistant (RA) position (approximately 30% effort for up to two years) will support an R21 grant, Patient Activation, Cognition, and LVAD. The RA will work under the supervision of PI Marykay Pavol (Neurology). Enrolled patients and caregivers will be evaluated at time of enrollment and every 3 months thereafter for one year (total of 5 encounters each per patient and caregiver)


Responsibilities

  • Follow up telephone calls with patients and caregivers for scheduling and clinical updates.

  • Scheduling follow-up visits every 3 months. Visits may be in-person (coordinated with outpatient clinic visits), video, or a combination thereof.

  • Visits may be performed in the hospital (Milstein) or outpatient settings (Cardiology, Neurology)

  • Follow-up visits will include cognitive assessments and questionnaires administration for patients; questionnaires administration for caregivers

  • The RA may administer cognitive tests and questionnaires, pending completion of certification.

  • The RA may consent patients and caregivers, under Dr. Pavol’s supervision.

  • The RA may create a study database (e.g., REDCap).

  • The RA may collect patient health information from the electronic medical record.

  • The RA will enter data regularly into the study database.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School degree and at least one year of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in research projects
  • Knowledge in database entry (redcap, SAS, etc.)
