The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Office of Alumni Relations and Development partners with alumni, donors, and friends who share a dedication to furthering Columbia's global impact. The Human Resources and Talent Management Team (HRTM) focuses on all areas of the employee life cycle to contribute towards an engaged workforce and to help the department and University meet its mission and goals. The HRTM Team is a resource for managers and staff, providing support, project-based initiatives, and strategic planning.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Human Resources and Talent Strategy, the part-time Recruiter will support the recruitment and hiring process for positions within the Office of Alumni Relations and Development (OAD). This is a temporary position of up to 6 months, working approximately 20-30 hours per week. The Recruiter will lead assigned recruitment searches under the direction of the Executive Director and in partnership with HRTM staff and hiring managers. The Recruiter will provide guidance and support throughout the recruitment process, from position development through candidate selection and onboarding.


Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned recruitment searches under the direction of the Executive Director, Human Resources and Talent Strategy, and in partnership with HRTM staff and hiring managers. Provide guidance and support throughout the recruitment process, from position development through candidate selection and onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop effective and consistent recruitment and interview processes, including drafting interview questions, developing interview feedback forms and evaluation criteria, and providing guidance to interviewers throughout the process.
  • Serve as a recruitment partner and resource to hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, guiding recruitment strategy, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and process management.
  • In partnership with HRTM staff, manage the recruitment process for OAD positions, including officer, support staff, temporary, work-study, and student casual positions. This includes reviewing, updating, and drafting job descriptions, coordinating position approvals, conducting recruitment intake meetings, reviewing candidate applications, conducting initial candidate interviews, and supporting the hiring process through onboarding.
  • Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to identify active and passive candidates through a variety of channels, including employee referrals, online job boards, ATS-based outreach campaigns, social media, and other web-based sourcing tools.
  • Build and maintain pipelines of qualified and diverse candidates for open positions through proactive sourcing and outreach efforts.
  • Review and assess candidate applications and conduct initial interviews to evaluate qualifications and alignment with position requirements; provide hiring managers with candidate summaries and recommendations for further consideration.
  • Advise hiring managers throughout the search process, including providing guidance on candidate pools, interview processes, candidate assessment, and selection.
  • Coordinate candidate interviews and facilitate communication and follow-up between candidates and hiring managers throughout the process.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience by maintaining timely and consistent communication with candidates and serving as a primary point of contact throughout the recruitment process.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for OAD when engaging with candidates through career sites, social media, targeted outreach, and other recruitment channels.
  • Coordinate and monitor the job posting and approval process in the ATS for OAD officer and support staff positions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruitment records, including candidate activity, pipeline status, sourcing activity, interview status, and job posting information.
  • Provide ATS user assistance and recruitment support to hiring managers as needed.
  • Support recruitment-related projects and initiatives within HRTM as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience required.
  • Must possess strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office products, knowledge of recruiting social media sites and applicant tracking systems, and a high aptitude for learning new technology.
  • Experience with Google Suite products is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide outstanding service to both internal and external customers.
  • Must be self-motivated and exercise sound judgment, as well as take ownership of role responsibilities and completion of work.
  • Qualified applicants should have strong attention to detail, a commitment to work as a professional, cohesive team member, and the ability to prioritize multiple demands. Must be resourceful, creative, and flexible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in a higher educational institution or other complex organization is highly preferred.

  • Subject to business needs, the Office of Alumni Relations and Development supports a hybrid work arrangement for this position. Options will be discussed during the interview process.
