Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (Dr. Marisa Spann), the operations manager will perform various research duties supporting NIH-funded studies related to maternal-child health. The responsibilities for the position include organization of staff across projects; interfacing with administration to support laboratory supply purchases, vendor communications, and assistance with grant submissions and progress reporting for grants; staff training and quality control checks of staff participant-facing activities (e.g., recruitment), management of placenta protocol, oversight of research study documentation, and medical monitoring for study sessions.

Seeking an individual who can commit to the role for at least two years.


Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include data coordination and project management effort as follows:

25% - Oversee research visits and documentation to ensure quality high fidelity, good data quality, and follow protocols. Suggests and implements corrections and enhancements of protocols based on developing best practices and observations. 

20% - Correspond with community and other laboratory partners.

20% - Manage laboratory inventory and Interface with administration to support laboratory supply purchases, vendor communications, and grant-related submissions.

15% - Clinical supervision for studies. 

15% - Staff supervision including staff training and quality control checks of staff participant-facing activities (e.g., recruitment).

 5% - Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications 

  • Requires at least a bachelor's degree, nursing (RN) certification, and at least 4 years of experience working in a research or medical related industry.

Preferred Qualifications 

  •  2-3 years of managing a staff of at least 5 individuals.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, experience with medical record systems, clinical assessments and proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a research team, supervise individuals, and strong clinical research experience.   
  • A two-year commitment to the position is required.
