Position Summary

The Division of Neonatology at Columbia University in partnership with NYP Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital is seeking a nurse practitioner or equivalent to support our evolving NeuroNICU program.  The Nurse Practitioner will need to have or acquire specialized skills in use of neonatal neurological monitoring (head ultrasound, MRI, NIRS, aEEG and other tools) and neuroprotective strategies. This practitioner will be accountable for daily coordination of neuroprotective care in our NICUs, in partnership with the physician NeuroNICU Director.

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating a variety of clinical and research responsibilities, ensuring high quality of bedside neonatal neurological care.
• Ensuring safe operation of portable MRI machine.
• Conducting clinical review of all head ultrasound and MRI measurements.
• Focusing on optimizing the use of aEEG and NIRS, and integration of emerging neuromonitoring technologies into NICU care. 
• Efficiently utilizing resources and supporting ongoing program improvements.
• Collaborating closely with the MSCH NICU teams (nursing, frontline providers, physical therapy/ occupational therapy) as well as CUMC faculty (Neonatology, Neurology, Radiology).
• Assisting the healthcare team to promote optimal neurodevelopmental assessment and care through family-centered, culturally sensitive practices.
• Active participation in Departmental and Divisional staff activities and conferences as well as public engagement activities are also expected.
• Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must have two years’ experience in the NICU.
• Must consistently have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines.
• The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each other’s contributions.

Other Requirements

• Current NYS RN and NP Licenses and ANCC Board Certification, maintain and renew when necessary.
• BLS and ACLS Certification
• DEA License
• Able to meet New York-Presbyterian Hospital credentialing requirements.
