Position Summary

Abaci Lab in the Department of Dermatology and Biomedical Engineering seeks candidates to join the laboratory research team as a Short-Term Casual to work on a project to develop advanced skin tissue models and grafts for disease modeling and skin transplantation.

The candidate will work under the direct supervision of the PI and a postdoctoral researcher. The ideal start date is June, but later dates will be considered too.


Responsibilities

  • In vitro culture of primary skin cells from discarded human skin.
  • Generation and maintenance of engineered 3D skin constructs.
  • Design and development of automated system and parts.
  • Assistance in the analysis of the components of the skin using immunofluorescence, ELISA based assays, and other basic cell biology techniques.
  • Organization of data for presentations and publications.
  • Maintenance of tissue culture room and equipment.
  • Ordering, inventory and other duties necessary to the functioning of research projects.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in bioengineering or biomedical engineering.
  • The candidate must be familiar with basic laboratory techniques including sterile cell culture.
  • Experience in 3D-printing, and CAD modelling.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Experience with photoshop, R, GraphPad is appreciated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in research laboratory setting.
