The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary
The Financial Analyst (FA) reports to the Associate Director of Financial Operations at Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and works closely with other staff members. The FA is assigned a full caseload of departments and will assume primary responsibilities for the portfolio of accounts under these departments. 


Responsibilities

Award Review and Account Set up 

  • Review and analyze grants, contracts and cooperative agreements to prepare, process and approve all sponsored projects accounts and budget authorizations, which include new awards, continuations, transfer-funds, supplements, modifications, no cost extensions, re-budgeting and carryovers;
  • Review award documents for accuracy and consistency with proposal applications and with sponsor and institutional policies and regulations - - Ensure compliance with award regulatory terms and University policies, such as Conflicts of Interest, Human Subjects & IACUC approvals, etc.;
  • Process awarded information into SPA's grants management system for project creation and/or modifications;
  • Review and reconcile the data fed from the grants management system to the University's financial system (ARC), to ensure accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Excel required;
  • Experience using other Microsoft applications and accounting software;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 

Other Requirements

  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with sponsoring and regulatory agencies, as well as faculty, administrators and other members of the University is important;
  • Knowledge of grants as well as OMB, Federal and State laws and regulations;
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, organizational, time management, and proactive problem-solving skills;
  • Proven ability to operate independently in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with frequently changing priorities;
  • Experience with financial reporting of sponsored projects.
