The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Facilities Assistant supports day-to-day building operations, event/room setups, and basic workplace services while providing light tech support for conference rooms, printers, and end users. This role is hands-on, customer-facing, and ideal for a service-oriented problem solver
Responsibilities
Facilities & Operations
- Perform daily walkthroughs, address work orders, minor repairs, and housekeeping follow-ups.
- Set up/break down rooms for classes, meetings, and events (furniture, signage, A/V checks).
- Coordinate vendors (cleaning, HVAC, locksmith, movers) and escort as needed.
- Manage inventory of supplies; receive deliveries; handle interaction moves.
- Support safety & compliance (egress clearances, eyewash checks, AED inspections); report hazards.
- Assist with key/card access requests and badge audits.
Tech Support
- Provide first-line support for conference room A/V (displays, projectors, microphones, Zoom/Teams).
- Triage printer/MFP issues (paper jams, toner, basic maintenance) and place service calls.
- Help with new-hire setups (docking stations, monitors, keyboards) and basic connectivity checks (Wi-Fi, Ethernet).
- Log and route tickets in the service desk; track assets (loaner laptops, peripherals).
Administration & Customer Service
- Monitor shared inbox/phone; acknowledge requests and set expectations.
- Update checklists, logs, floor plans, and asset records.
- Support emergency drills and incident response as directed.
Other Duties
- Provides additional on-site support as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1–2 years in facilities, operations, or customer support (campus or office environment preferred).
- Comfort with hand tools and basic repairs; ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Basic A/V and IT troubleshooting skills (Zoom/Teams rooms, displays, printers, Windows/macOS basics).
- Strong communication, reliability, and service mindset; can prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with work-order systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and room-scheduling tools (e.g., Outlook, Robin).
- Familiarity with building systems (HVAC, fire/life safety) and EH&S/OSHA basics.
- Valid driver’s license for local errands/vendor runs.
Other Requirements
- Standard weekday schedule with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends for events.
- Rotating on-call for urgent facilities issues.
- Mostly on-site; frequent walking, bending, lifting, and ladder use with proper safety practices.
