The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Director for Event Operations and Work Management is responsible for providing leadership, direction, strategic program support, staff management, and oversight of event operations and classroom support provided by the Campus Operations Department.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the coordination and execution of University events and operations on campus to meet agreed upon organizational performance plans
- Responsible for developing and implementing programs to maximize the utilization of assets
- Responsible for the planning and execution of the Campus Operations event responsibilities, including, but not limited to, gathering and prioritizing work orders and customer and service level requirements, and working closely with vendors and other departments within CU Facilities to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met
- Ensures that the services delivered support CUF's overall strategy and goals
- Represents the AVP for Campus Operations in committees such as Commencement Core Team, Reunion Weekends, Convocation,
Registrar's Office etc.
- Oversees sound logistical planning of Facilities event support, ensures safe and efficient execution, and works cross-departmentally to develop event execution models that contribute to successful University events
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- A minimum of 7-9 years of related experience, or 7-9 years of related supervisory and project management experience preferably in facilities services, client services and schedule management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as this position works extensively with both internal and external customers, contractors, consultants and vendors
- Resourceful with creative problem solving skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Strong skills in analyzing and synthesizing large amounts of complex data for preparing sound and
relevant proposals
- Ability to multi-task with demanding time-frames
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Advanced knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources, and financial principles and practices
- Ability to think creatively and independently on issues and problems within the scope of the position
- Managerial and supervisory experience and ability to facilitate an environment which is conducive to working independently and as a team is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree desirable
- Understanding of facilities operations and its interconnection with campus events as well as experience with event management, venue management, event operations, work management scheduling and customer service skills strongly preferred
- Experience with project planning and coordination highly preferred
