The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, the Dental Assistant is responsible for providing first in class service to patients, residents, faculty, and all other Columbia personnel.


Responsibilities

The Dental Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assist dental providers in provision of dental care to patients by using four-handed dentistry.
  • Aiding in preparation and maintenance of materials, instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain dental supply and material levels within the department, ensuring inventory levels are at par, disposing of expired supplies, and ordering/dispensing supplies as needed.
  • Maintain dental/surgical equipment by reporting major malfunctions to the technical team.
  • Provide cross coverage for dental assistant module areas and radiology.
  • Maintain student and patient records.
  • Pour/mix models.
  • Perform administrative functions, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience. Plus, one year of related experience preferred. 
  • Dental Assistant requires formal training in four handed dentistry, sit-down dental assisting and six months of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with dental x-rays.
  • Graduation from a NY State approved dental assistant program.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English), including translation.
  • BLS certification.
