Position Summary

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Data Analyst to collaborate with Drs. Matthew Cummings and Max O’Donnell (Principal Investigators) and their team. The projects focus on: (1) investigating the clinical and molecular epidemiology of sepsis and related critical illnesses in Uganda, and (2) optimizing treatment strategies for drug-resistant tuberculosis/HIV in South Africa.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and coordinating research study activities, including the development of operating policies and procedures.
  • Prepare applications for research ethics board approval.
  • Support study planning and implementation, and maintain data collection and analysis systems in line with research protocols.
  • Provide recommendations for statistical analyses and study design to the PIs and other research team members. This includes suggesting improvements to analytic code, study design protocols, and proposed analytic methods.
  • Conduct statistical queries, analyses, and evaluations, including quality control assessments of ongoing studies.
  • Generate summary reports, tables, and figures for PIs and research team members.
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentations and manuscripts for publication, including writing sections on methods and analysis.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus two years of related experience.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field would substitute for experience.
  • Experience in analyzing biomedical datasets.
  • Excellent English language communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the R and SAS programming languages.

  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
