The Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons Office of Development (VP&S OOD), a part of the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), is dedicated to facilitating relationships that support the vision and mission of CUIMC and VP&S: to transform health by driving discovery, advancing care, and educating leaders.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Development Associate provides overall administrative support for the daily operations of the development team handling fundraising efforts for the Departments of Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery, as well as the Transplant Initiative, Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center and Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, as well as other areas within OOD. This position manages a wide range of complex administrative operations in support of the team including scheduling meetings (with preparation of agenda and notification to participants as well as meeting follow-up); writing and coordinating the production of donor reports, solicitation letters, thank-you letters, and special acknowledgment letters; drafting own correspondence for review by supervisor; processing gift transmittals, assisting with prospect research and proposal development. The incumbent will also serve as a local expert for other staff.
The incumbent will work with the Executive Director to standardize and improve administrative best practices across the team. They will coordinate and manage database entry and maintain donor lists including assurance of data base accuracy; maintain files and database portfolio; interact with internal and external constituencies; help organize and coordinate events and committee meetings; perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working for a senior ranking member of a management team, managing multiple demands, and changing priorities, skills in basic research and advanced MS SharePoint experience preferred.
