Position Summary

The International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) at Columbia University is seeking two student workers for immediate hire to support our Student Advising team. This in-person position serves as a primary point of contact for international students and scholars visiting the office, assisting with front-desk operations, visitor support, and administrative activities. The Student Worker will help facilitate a welcoming and efficient experience by directing visitors, assisting with electronic forms and applications, and providing general office support.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and assisting international students and scholars at the front desk.
  • Providing login scan codes and directing visitors to staff members during walk-in advising hours.
  • Assisting students at e-form workstations with digital applications, including travel signature requests and other e-forms.
  • Supporting an in-person office environment.
  • Participating in cross-training opportunities with ISSO teams, including Communications, Programs, and Events.
  • Performing other administrative support duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled Columbia University Student.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, high traffic environment.
  • This is an in-person position. 
  • Interest in International Education/Study Abroad.
  • Punctual, motivated and positive worker. 
  • Excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team.
  • Positive, friendly, and culturally sensitive approach with CU international students and scholars.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Google Apps and data entry experience helpful.
