The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Clinical Coordinator will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting. The Clinical Coordinator will collaborate with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, nursing staff, medical assistants, and administrative staff to provide inclusive patient care and education and to deliver an exceptional patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture of kindness, inclusion, integrity, accountability, and excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting physicians by providing general nursing care, patient screening, and clinical support.
  • Serve as liaison between the practitioners and the patient/families.
  • Triage all calls and assist with EMR clinical in-basket messages/telephone encounters and advise appropriate clinicians.
  • Review all laboratory reports within 24 hours of their receipt.
  • Track abnormal lab results to confirm that patient has had appropriate follow up as ordered by the physician in the patient’s plan of care.
  • Assist in improving and maintaining the existing laboratory and pathology tracking system.
  • Maintain precise records of all specimens obtained and sent for testing.
  • Enter/review orders and document clinical notes in EPIC as advised by physicians.
  • Notify patients of normal results as determined by the physician either telephone or Connect patient portal.
  • Act as a resource for patients requesting lab results and requisition.
  • Obtain pre-certification/pre-authorizations for medications, services and testing in a timely manner when necessary.
  • Provide physicians with results for routine review prior to scanning.
  • Act as a resource for patients requesting lab results and requisition.
  • Provide patient education and medication administration (including injections).
  • Provide clinical assistance to clinical coordinator with phlebotomy and administer medication/injections.
  • Function as a team member, providing backup coverage when required.
  • Assist with miscellaneous duties as assigned by physicians, clinical coordinator, director of nursing and practice manager.
  • Comply with all HIPAA regulations, as well as compliance and safety guidelines.
  • Comply with all hospital, department and division policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
  • New York State Nursing Licensure required.
  • BLS certified.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to be a team player in a busy environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of OB/GYN experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPIC a plus.
