Position Summary
The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient care within the Division of Nephrology, focusing on procedure-related care and recovery. This role involves direct patient care, procedural assistance, and administrative duties to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care to patients requiring intravenous infusions and injections, including administering medications, monitoring patient responses, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of treatments.
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions, document responses, and manage any adverse events.
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing renal (and bone) biopsy procedures, including preparation, assistance during the procedure, and post-procedure care. Ensure patient safety and comfort, manage complications, and educate patients and families about the procedure and aftercare.
- Perform peripheral IV insertion, lab drawing, vital sign monitoring, and peri-procedure care for biopsy patients. Conduct 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and assessments as per MD orders, and administer iohexol for GFR measurements.
- Maintain inventory of supplies needed for biopsies and clinical infusions.
- Schedule and manage patient appointments, obtain authorizations, and assist in growing the infusion program. Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Assist with clinical research infusions as per research protocols, including documentation, sampling, and other clinical activities for study participants. Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training, and/or experience, plus three years of related experience
- Current NYS RN License (and maintenance)
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Other Requirements
- Participation in the medical surveillance program
- Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
- Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
