The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Clery Manager is responsible for ensuring University compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). This position works closely with the Director of Clery Compliance to oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of crime statistics, maintains Clery-mandated policies and procedures, and ensures the timely issuance of emergency notifications and warnings. The Clery Manager works closely with Public Safety, Legal, Student Affairs, and other University departments to ensure compliance with federal regulations and support a safe campus environment 


Responsibilities

Clery Act Compliance and Reporting 

  • Works closely with the Director to prepare and submit the Annual Security Report (ASR), ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal requirements.
  • Collects, analyzes, and maintains campus crime statistics from internal and external sources, including law enforcement agencies and campus security authorities (CSAs).
  • Ensures proper classification of crimes and incidents per Clery Act requirements and the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) standards.
  • Conducts regular audits to verify compliance with crime reporting and documentation requirements.

Public Safety Policies and Procedures

  • Develops, implements, and updates policies related to Clery Act compliance, timely warnings, emergency notifications, and campus security, incorporating changes based on updated federal and state laws.
  • Collaborates with campus departments to maintain an accurate and up-to-date list of Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) and provides them with guidance on reporting obligations.
  • Maintains, updates, and archives the Daily Crime Log, ensuring accessibility to the public and compliance with Clery Act requirements.
  • Conducts daily reviews of all incidents reported to the Department of Public Safety and other Campus Security Authorities (CSAs), maintaining meticulous records of analyses to demonstrate compliance.
  • Identifies gaps in the Department's report writing, crime classification, and Clery Act compliance skills, and recommends improvements through policy or training initiatives.

Emergency Notification and Timely Warnings

  • Coordinates with Public Safety and Communications teams to ensure timely issuance of emergency notifications and Clery-mandated timely warnings.
  • Monitors and assesses incidents to determine whether they meet the criteria for alerts under Clery guidelines.

Collaboration and Risk Mitigation

  • Works closely with General Counsel, Student Affairs, Housing, and Local Law Enforcement to maintain compliance and address campus safety concerns.
  • Participates in crisis response planning and supports emergency preparedness initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent in Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Compliance, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Clery Act compliance, campus safety, risk management, or legal compliance in higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of Clery Act requirements, Title IX, FERPA, and other federal/state laws related to campus safety.
  • Experience working with crime data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and interact with law enforcement agencies.
  • On-campus position; must be available to work on-site.
  • Availability for after-hours emergency response and compliance deadlines as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Certified Clery Compliance Officer (CCCO) designation.
  • Law enforcement or emergency management background.
  • Experience with compliance audits and federal reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with software systems for crime data reporting and emergency notifications.
