The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Reporting to the Faculty Director, the Assistant Program Manager provides critical operational oversight for an initiative at Columbia Law School to advance student engagement efforts, manage email distribution infrastructure, oversee virtual and in-person events and convenings, and draft public-facing communications.  Specifically, the Assistant Director will help facilitate all aspects of the initiative’s work to engage, develop, grow, and support a nationwide student network, help maintain internal coordination and organization within the Law School, and provide logistical and operational support for the initiative’s public events and programming. The Assistant Director is a key team member in upholding our core values of service to students, collaboration with colleagues, and partnership with faculty.


Responsibilities

Student Engagement 

  • Collaborate on the development, execution, and day-to-day management of student engagement programming, including contributing ideas for further program development, maintaining distribution lists, drafting and distributing content for emails and other student-facing communications content, maintaining internal databases and technical infrastructure, and facilitating virtual lectures and in-person student convenings.
  • Interfacing with external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration across academic institutions in support of student development and student-facing programming.

Center Operations and Digital Presence 

  • Responsible for the initiative’s online and digital presence, including managing the webpages, which undergo an annual review and periodic updates throughout the year;
  • Oversee operational and substantive coordination within the initiative and between the initiative and the Law School.

Events and Convenings 

  • Oversee the scheduling and execution of events for the initiative, including liaising with outside speakers, room reservations, food ordering, facilities requests, calendaring, invoicing, etc., and attending in person to provide onsite support and management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA required plus 3-5 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, required.  
  • Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.

  • Technological and computer literacy, including familiarity with or a strong interest in developing knowledge of email distribution and videoconferencing software.
