The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Reporting to the Director of Recreation Operations, the Assistant Director of Recreation Operations, Membership is responsible for supporting Recreation Operations, including but not limited to managing the membership office and sales, facility access, helping supervise student staff, and coordinating PEREC marketing efforts, while providing excellent customer service to the Columbia community. Assistant Director of Recreation Operations provides administrative support to the PEREC team through vouchers and refunds


Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordinating all aspects of daily membership office functions, including but not limited to membership and locker sales, customer service, marketing, and ordering and monitoring the inventory of membership supplies.
  • Assist with Dodge Fitness Center facility access for the multiple stakeholders of the facility.
  • Maintain the operations of the point of sale software used by PEREC and the University as needed for PEREC membership/locker/access needs to Dodge Fitness Center, including reconciling all financial transactions and coordinating revenue deposits.
  • Coordinate PEREC marketing efforts.
  • Assist with Overseeing all software and ID card functions pertaining to the swipe access system at Dodge Fitness Center
  • Coordinating with the ID Centers of Teachers College, Barnard College, schools of Columbia University, and any affiliate groups for access to Dodge Fitness Center.
  • Providing excellent customer service to maintain the integrity of the athletic and recreation facilities.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department and assuming other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.
  • Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Ivy League, University, and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics code of ethics and rules and regulations.
  • Assist in coordinating and implementing of recreation operation staffing, including but not limited to hiring, training, payroll, evaluating qualified staff, supervising maintenance of day to day operations for front desk, equipment room, and fitness room at Dodge Physical Fitness Center.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 0-2 years of experience in recreation/membership operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to managed budget expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to support revenue goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
