The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Administrative Clerk will perform a variety of administrative and staff support duties for a fast-paced department which require a range of knowledge and skill of organizational procedures and policies.


Responsibilities

Accessioning (60%)

  • Triage patient samples and accession all specimen samples
  • Obtain demographics, insurance information, label specimen containers, and microscopic slides
  • Register outreach patients in Epic
  • Troubleshooting of cases

Administrative Duties (25%)

  • Must maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Handle multiple telephone lines, take detailed messages and direct incoming calls
  • Fax, mail, file and maintain records
  • General maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
  • Handle receiving specimens, frozens, and packages through window

(5%)

  • Handle specimens, slides, and blocks for Lawrence Hospital

(5%)

  • Perform other related duties as related to operations of work unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience plus a minimum of two to three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree desirable.
  • Knowledge of EPIC, Copath, Word, and Excel preferred.
  • Knowledge of billing fee codes CPT and ICD preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Willing to work evenings.
  • Successfully completion systems training requirements.
