The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Administrative Aide will perform a variety of administrative and staff support duties for a fast -paced department, which requires a range of knowledge and skills of organizational procedures and policies.


Responsibilities

  • 50% - Transcribe audio files and written text into laboratory information system, Manage and maintain dictionaries and databases, Prepare own correspondence, type, edit and format medical reports, documents, manuscripts, articles and course materials.
  • 20% -  Triage and accession patient samples, obtain demographic and insurance information, label specimen containers, microscopic slides.
  • 15% -  Handle multiple telephone lines, take detailed messages and direct incoming calls, Read, fax and/or mail test results in accordance with established policy and procedure, Must maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy and procedure, Fax, mail, file and maintain records.
  • 10% - Maintain and order office and laboratory supplies, Will be responsible for working with and training new or inexperienced employees and work-study students, Maintain calendar schedule, organize internal and external meetings, coordinate travel arrangements.
  • 5% - Perform other related duties as related to operations of work unit

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two - three years related experience or equivalent in education.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and/or scientific terminology required
  • Knowledge of billing codes (ICD9 and CPT)
  • Must be proficient in Windows an Microsoft Office
  • Typing 65+ w.p.m
  • Familiarity with CoPath or similar Anatomic Pathology Laboratory system a plus
  • Must have excellent grammatical, communication, and interpersonal skills
