Position Summary
Columbia University’s Wellness Center is home to Columbia’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Institute called ‘InTOuCH.’ This program recruits trusted members of churches from New York City to complete an 8-week, certified CHW training curriculum. Graduates from the program are enlisted to support the CHURCH research team in increasing access to colorectal screening among African American church and community members.
The CHW will collaborate directly with the research team from Columbia University Irving Medical Center to organize and implement colorectal cancer screening events at local churches and affiliated spaces. They will provide referrals for colorectal cancer screenings and offer Motivational Interviewing to community members.
