Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, the Assistant Director oversees all logistics and partners with the Director on all activities, meetings, and strategies for Columbia Law School’s Alumni Association. They are also a point of contact on logistics for the Board of Visitors and Dean’s Council meetings. Working closely with not only the members of the Alumni Relations team, but also the Dean’s office, the Development team, and various Law School staff and faculty, the incumbent will oversee several aspects of the annual Winter Luncheon and Medal for Excellence event. Additionally, they will also be the lead on the annual Stone Circle Luncheon, Alumni of Color reception, the Alumni Speaker Series, and alumni legacy stewardship for alumni participation in graduation. As such, the incumbent will interface with, manage and advise prominent faculty, alumni and donors to facilitate their participation as speakers and hosts. The above includes both in-person and virtual event production skills as necessary, as well as hybrid formats.
They will also assist with promoting the CLS LawLink networking platform to alumni and boards, strategize partnerships with student organizations to reach alumni populations, and promote events and communications within the platform.
The Assistant Director will serve as the team lead for email communications to alumni, regulating email traffic to ensure only a reasonable amount of communications are sent to the constituency, and also designs and executes annual and one-off email communications from the Dean and the Alumni Relations office to and for alumni. The incumbent will also strategize with the Director on developing and maintaining connections between the alumni relations department and key student organizations.
