Position Summary
The Department of Surgery is looking for a Technician A in the Sugahara lab in the Division of GI/Endocrine Surgery. The individual will support the Principal Investigator and Post-Doctoral Researchers on research projects focused on novel cancer therapies based on tumor targeting peptides.
Responsibilities
- Assist with tissue collection and tissue sectioning for the lab.
- Feed mice and clean cages
- Manage mouse breeding
- Sterilize instruments and clean laboratory
- Prepare simple solutions/buffers/media for use in experiments
- Administrative duties including simple spreadsheets, inventory maintenance and supply ordering
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program.
- One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of simple laboratory assays and techniques.
- Experience with administrative tasks.
Other Requirements
- Previous laboratory experience especially with tissue sectioning and mouse handeling.
- Ability to perform work in a neat and orderly manner in accordance with safety regulations.
