Position Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Advanced Practice Provider, the Physician Assistant will provide services to the Emergency Medicine Department at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Allen Hospital and/or NYP, Westchester. Individual will perform a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and outcome evaluation of patients. Individual will also participate in performance improvement, research and educational activities. Day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts are required.
Full-time Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are required to work a rotating schedule that includes day, evening, and overnight shifts. These shifts vary in duration, typically spanning 8, 10, or 12 hours. Additionally, full-time APPs must maintain weekend availability and are responsible for covering at least one summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day) and one winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s) annually. The amount of overnight and weekend shifts that an APP will work in a given month can vary based on departmental needs.
