Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in DLD will provide advanced clinical support in the management of gastroenterology. The NP will work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative teams to ensure timely, comprehensive, patient-centered care. This role focuses on care coordination, clinical follow-up, and optimization of operational processes across the division.

Responsibilities

Clinical Care:

  • Oversee IBD infusion therapy, including scheduling, infusion orders, renewals, and prior authorizations.
  • Review and coordinate follow-up for pathology results, with emphasis on screening and surveillance colonoscopy findings.
  • Manage direct-to-procedure (DTP) workflows for advanced procedures (ERCP, EMR, EUS) and inpatient procedures (e.g., peptic ulcer disease, poor-prep colonoscopy).
  • Provide clinical coverage for physicians who are on vacation or away, including follow-up, inbox management, and coordination of urgent patient needs.
  • Perform and document clinical assessments, histories, physical exams, and care plans in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.

Care Coordination & Patient Education:

  • Serve as primary contact for patients undergoing complex GI care, providing education regarding disease processes, treatment expectations, and medication adherence.
  • Facilitate communication among providers, patients, and outside healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary services, including nutrition, mental health, surgery, and social work, to support comprehensive care.
  • Triage patient calls, My Connect messages, and urgent clinical concerns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years related experience.
  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license (or proof of application)
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse license
  • Board certification
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration (or eligibility).
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Availability for a full-time, five-day work week schedule.
  • Strong clinical assessment, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Prior clinical experience in Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, or General Surgery.
  • Proficiency with the EPIC preferred

Other Requirements

  • Must satisfy all clinical credentialing and privileging requirements of NewYork‑Presbyterian Hospital
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
