Position Summary

The Manager of Clinical Workflow Optimization is a senior leader within the Department of Radiology, charged with advancing data-driven decision-making and operational excellence within the clinical practices of Radiology. This role provides strategic oversight across analytics, revenue cycle optimization, workflow improvement, business planning and performance improvement. The incumbent will drive innovation and efficiency through actionable insights, advanced analytics, and collaboration with key stakeholders to align initiatives with organizational goals and support sustainable growth


Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact data driven initiatives to align with departmental goals, delivering strategic insights and actionable recommendations to executive leadership. 
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of advanced analytics platforms to provide accurate, real-time reporting on operational, financial, and clinical performance. 
  • Partner with operations and finance teams to design scalable solutions that optimize workflows, enhance resource allocation, and address current and future departmental needs. 
  • Assess and improve departmental workflows and processes to increase productivity, cost reduction, and enhance service delivery. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and optimize standard operating procedures for sustainable operational efficiency. 
  • Partner with central revenue cycle teams to enhance operational performance, streamline processes, and monitor compliance with recommended policies and workflows. 
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of analytics initiatives. 
  • Work closely with the departmental leadership to advise and monitor revenue cycle performance metrics under the responsibility of the department including front-end EPIC processes, registration, insurance verification, time-of-service payments, cash/credit card processing, etc. 
  • Ensure departmental accountability for key operational duties, including but not limited to provider credentialing for non-contracted payors, accreditation, financial counseling, client billing, escalation of incomplete documentation, patient record discrepancy, existing charge review and router edits.
  • Provide data-driven guidance on financial performance and support sound decision-making in resource allocation. 
  • Oversee revenue cycle related work that is determined to remain in the department as part of the One Revenue Cycle centralization initiative, including financial counselling, provision of cost estimates, monitoring of charge review and claim edit work queues.
  • Identify growth opportunities through data analysis and market research, creating business plans for new services, programs, and expansion initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with department leaders to evaluate and implement innovative solutions that align with departmental and institutional goals. 
  • Serve as a strategic liaison across finance, clinical operations, research, HR, and clinical units to align analytics initiatives with departmental priorities. 
  • Engage with clinical and divisional sites to support effective implementation and continuous improvement of departmental strategies.
  • Oversight of workflows of Breast Cancer Services and Metro North Occupational Health Services  programs.
  • Oversee processes for tracking, invoicing, and reconciling drug-related charges.
  • Partner with research operations and finance on research billing workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related progressive management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Five to seven years of progressive management responsibility of which at least five should be in a teaching hospital environment.

Other Requirements

  • Experience collaborating with physician practices required. 
  • Knowledge of EPIC system required.
  • Advanced analytic skills required.   
  • Proficiency of Medicare/Medicaid and New York State Managed Care plans strongly desired.
  • Excellent oral, written, and people skills. 
  • Experience with MS Office products, Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
